Hotel access control

Hotel access control

Slightly further afield than Edinburgh, this door repair & access control job for the Open Arms hotel in Dirleton came out great!

The door wasn’t in a great shape, with previous holes from unsuitable hardware, so I added strength & stability back to the door with large brass plates that look rather nice, and matching brass hardware. The requirements were tricky, but the door now has an easy to use backlit mechanical keypad for guests, as well as timed access for access to reception during the day, locking automatically at night, whilst allowing simple egress at any time from inside, both via Push-to-exit and simply using the handle.

The hardware selected is all commercial grade, which is more expensive, but cheap stuff is a false economy on a door used hundreds of times a day! The lowest rated part on it is “only” 800,000 uses.
